Knautia arvensis (Ruusuruoho)

A perennial wild flower, which attracts a lot of all kind of insects. It is also the food plant for the diurnal hawk moth Hemaris tityus. Knautia has a long blooming time reaching often September. So it functions as one often most important sources of nectar for the insects of the late summer. In my garden it grows commonly on the sandy south slope.
