This is a wild grass, common in the north Scandinavia, but more rare in the south. It is the host plant of caterpillars of the violet goldwing butterfly, Lycaena helle. The flower of this plant doesn't produce any seed but a lot of baby-plants which begin directly to grow without any germination.
