This is the area of warmth demanding plants and survival experiments. It faces against south while in background there is a 30m high rock protecting against the cold northern winds. The soil is mineral and calcium rich an there are a lot of stones forming sheltered places to grow. Fo example Hedera helx, Platanus acerifolia and Laurus nobilis have survived here over a winter of -20C. The snow is a good additional isolator too, but the spring sun with snow mirror attacks the plants very brightly drying especially the evergreens in one day. The most winter tender species need a root isolation and most evergreens

need some sun cover during the spring.
