Bought my first plants already 1990 and shared them several times. Now there are large areas completely covered with this beautifully flowering plant. Not original Scandinavian plant, but very common decoration in the gardens. The species is evergreen and winter hardy easily down to -25C. Likes poor soil and rather dry places. In moist and nutritious conditions grows well, but the rivals do it much better and gradually kills this very low growing plant. The worst rivals are different kind of grasses. A lot of time is needed for uprooting but the result is dashing.
