This large and hardy conifer is rather common in Finnish forests but it is nearly always planted by man. It prefers the continental climate and the small seedlings are seldom seen in the forest, not even near the adult trees full of cones. I happened to find one seedling along the roadside and saved it before it was cut down. Because my plot is only 2800m2 large I can't let all the big trees grow up to their maximum size but have to keep them as "Bonsai" dwarfs. L.sibirica is chosen for that purpose, so let's see how it looks like after some years.
