My mother had this "broken heart" in her garden when I was a child. It is still now one of the most popular and beautiful perennial garden flowers in my country. Of course I must have at least one Lamprocapnos in my garden as well. Though the plant is common it isn'y the easiest one. Sometimes its early shoots get severe damage of the spring frost. The root usually survives.
