This hardy species of bamboo has been growing in my green house at least from 1990's. I took 2 small pieces of root from our relatives garden in Italy with me and planted them outside in my garden. They have survived staying green over the winter. When I was younger I could never imagine to have bamboos in my garden here in boreal circumstances. But now bamboo grow actually in many places, rarely indeed, partly because we have in one zoo two giant pandas from China and they need something to eat.
