Clematis are sold in different species and variations in all kind of garden shops. They have big and beautiful flowers and can be placed on the balconies even in the cities. That's why they sell well. Another reason is that they are no easy to get them alive over the winter and they must often be bought again in the spring. C.alpina is one of the easiest species of the Clematis family. It is a food plant fo the caterpillars of the geometrid moth of the family Horisme. That's why gardeners in south Europe hate these moths. But I'm waiting for them because most of them are extreme rare in the boreal region.
